USA Today Oregon Player of the Year, USA Today All-Junior Team,  Student Sports Sophomore All-American, Nike All-American, Reebok/WBCA Underclass All-American, USA Junior Team finalist, 4A First Team All State (coaches), 4A State Player of the Year, 19 ppg, 10 rpg, 4 bpg. Blue Star no. 1, ASGR no. 2, FCP no. 2. Plays for AAU team Michigan Crossover.  Will probably leave the West Coast for college (maybe for NJ?).

Metro (DC) Player of the Year, USA Today All-Junior Team, USA Today All-America HM.  20 ppg, 9rpg, 7 apg.  ASGR no. 3, FCP no. 26.

09/22/2000: will make official visit to RU next weekend.  Has narrowed choices to Virginia, Duke, Maryland and Rutgers, and North Carolina.

Shyra Ely: 

Student Sports Sophomore All-American, USA Today All-America HM, USA Today All-Junior Team, Nike All-American, Reebok/WBCA Underclass All-American, USA Junior Team finalist, First Team All-State (South Bend Tribune), Second Team All-State (Louisville Courier-Tribune), SI for Women National Sophomore of the Year, Indianapolis Player of the Year. 19 ppg, 11 rpg.  Blue Star no. 2, ASGR No. 1, FCP no. 1.  Plays for AAU team The Family, which was undefeated at the USJN tournament in DC. They will compete in the AAU Junior Olympics in Orlando July 27th through August 4th.

09/12/00:  Ely no longer appears to be considering RU
09/20/00:  Stringer will visit Ely this month

USA Today Hawaii Player of the Year, Starbulletin Player of the Year as a sophomore. 20 ppg, 13 rpg.  Will play for Brea H.S. in California next year.  Plays forAAU team Hawaii Select which made it to quarterfinals on USJN tourney in Las Vegas.

11/14/00: verbal to UCSB

09/20/00: According to Brandy's coach, RU appears to have lost interest
10/11/00: List narrowed to UCLA, Hawai'i, UC-Santa Barbara and Arizona

Notes:  Brandy was named to all-state team as freshman and was USA Today's Hawaii player of the year for both 1999 and 2000.  Basketball is a spring sport in Hawaii; season runs through May.

5/10/00:  Brandy scored a career-high 35 points to lead the Mustangs to victory in the OIA Championship game. She also had 12 rebounds and six steals. In a semifinal win, she scored 29 and grabbed 11 boards.

State's top vote-getter among coaches in all-state balloting, Gatorade Kansas High School Athlete of the Year.  Unbelievable all-around athlete who recently won national junior javelin championship and competed in Olympics trials in that event.  Unfortunately for RU, she has expressed a desire to stay in Big 12 country.
